Polish Navy Sabre WZ27 Naval Cutlass for Sharpening and Training

A forged and tempered model – ideal for light cutting practice.

The sabre features a blunt blade, making it safe for training, but it may be sharpened if desired.

Blade: hand-forged and tempered 1060 high-carbon steel
Hardness after tempering: 52–54 HRC
Blade characteristics: highly flexible, flat, single-edged with a central point; double-fullered on both sides; polished steel finish
Maintenance: steel requires regular oiling to protect against corrosion

Blade decorations:

• Outer side: floral ornament with stylised lilies and the inscription “HONOR I OJCZYZNA” (“HONOUR AND FATHERLAND”)

• Inner side: admiralty anchor entwined with rope, in the same style

• At the base: maker’s mark “G. BOROWSKI”

Scabbard:
Made of steel, wrapped in stitched black leather; interior lined with leather for safe storage without risk of corrosion.
Three fluted brass fittings – upper and middle with suspension rings, lower fitted with an asymmetrical drag. The upper fitting bears the admiralty anchor with rope.

Grip:
Closed, with brass hilt fittings. Cross-guard with side bars; front arm curved towards the pommel, rear arm ending in a flat teardrop. Pommel angled forward, topped with a cap extending into a braid down to the guard, finished with an oval rosette and screw securing the tang.
The grip core is wooden, ribbed transversely, wrapped in black leather with double-twisted brass wire filigree.
