Moai are statues made by the inhabitants of the Easter Islands. These “colossi” were carved from volcanic rocks, around 1000-1100 AD. It is estimated that as many as 887 of them were created. These monolithic figures weigh more than 18 tons and are over 6 meters high. The largest of the Moai, the so-called Paro, was about 10 meters high and weighed 75 tons. Researchers also found one unfinished figure that was 21 meters high and weighed about 270 tons.
