Men Bronze Sculptures

Looking at art in general we can safely conclude that in their work, artists featured women very often, be it poetry, painting or sculpture. Although the sight of a man is not as graceful as that of a woman, artists would still often portray men and have done so for ages. While works portraying women tend to emphasize their delicacy and subtlety or bodily attributes, men are portrayed in a way that highlights their best physical qualities. Most male representations since ancient times are of gods and heroes, knights, and warriors. Men in those artworks are usually very well built and muscular, in armor or rich robes. Oftentimes artists would also present men in studies of the human body – nudes. There are also many representations of biblical men and saints, where the male figures are rather delicate, more modest and usually dressed in time-appropriate clothes. A very important topic throughout history are the sculptures of kings and leaders, often showing an idealized image of the monarch, intended to make the subjects feel admiration, respect or even fear. Leonardo Da Vinci’s ‘Vitruvian Man’ is considered the most important work of art in general, while a beautiful statue of “David” by Michelangelo is thought to be the most important sculpture. In our store you will find numerous representations of men, whether inspired by ancient mythology, such as figures of Poseidon, Hades, and Mercury, or by history such as Napoleon, Benjamin Franklin, or Che Guevara. We especially recommend classical bronze sculptures such as the ‘Discobolus’ or ‘The Thinker’.
